Watch this stimulating, thought provoking, very much needed and great interview of Bill Cosby & Dr. Alvin Poussaint with Tim Russert. I love Bill Cosby, he has always told the truth and he has always been in the fore front helping to educate our people.
I would just like to help him and Dr. Alvin Poussaint by saying WAKE-UP Family! THERE IS NO DIFFERENCE! There is nothing nice about calling your friends and family the n word. I never understood how my people can use this word and defend the use of this word as if it has some positive annotation attached to it.
This is a word that was used to keep our ancestors enslaved by using this word degradingly and inferiorly against them. The slave masters beat the slaves using this word to keep them in fear and in there so called “place” as if they were some sort of uncontrollable animals…yet they were treated worst than the animals.
Why continue to give this word so much power by making it popular and cool to other cultures when it has been used to put our ancestors down in the past. This word continues to sting the ears and pierce the hearts of those who have walked through the struggle and still remember when this word was used as a “power tool” to provoke and antagonize the best of us.
Why can’t we show the proper respect to our ancestors who fought and died for our freedom that we would not go through the same racial hate which they’ve endured. The great men and women who where whipped, beaten and hung that we (decendents) can have a much better life then they had in America. Why can’t we make them proud by continuing the struggle and raise honest, educated, and successful children?
It is the least that we all should strive for, for Harriet Tubman, for Frederick Douglas, SoJourner Truth, Martin Luther King Jr., Malcolm X, Rosa Parks, Bill Cosby, Dr. Alvin Poussaint, Thurgood Marshall, Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson, Louis Farrakhan and the many others who endured the struggles of being black 30, 40, 50 even 100’s of years ago here in America. We should be a much prouder race than what we have come to. Don’t allow the money, houses, cars and “need of material possessions” and paganistic ways change who you are and make you forget where you’ve come from.
We have come too far to fail now. Families, put your hearts back where it belongs and that is to your children, help them get through this new modern day slavery by helping them graduate from high school. Plug-in your young kids minds today that they will go to college, it don’t matter that you don’t see how…speak it into existence and watch your flower blossom. We need to remember who we are and where we come from.
